High Plains Agricola
Oil painting on Archival Canvas in a Black Metal Floater Frame.
This painting is part of my Ecological Landscape series.
Colorado is a part of the American High Plains Plateau. This image is typical of the region, roads that go on forever, dry land and irrigation farming, green areas near homes and rivers. The Ogallala aquifer that feeds this region is disappearing. In some places, the groundwater is already gone. Several scientific studies say it will take natural processes 6,000 years to refill the reservoir. The problem is that this Aquifer flows underneath eight states each with its own needs and procedures.
